10 - Safety of Children in Hotels!

CHECK your room for safety including, but not limited to electrical outlets, furniture with sharp corners & loose equipment.
Check all blinds for loose or dangling cords.
Move all furniture away from any windows

Review safety concerns with children regarding jumping from bed to bed and never standing on chairs in the balconies.
Don't let children out on balconies without close adult supervision.
Put all soaps, shampoos, plastic bags, matches and toiletries out of reach of children.
Remove Dry cleaning bags or place them out of reach.
Ensure that glasses are out of reach of young children.
Make sure young children can not reach coffee maker or hairdryers while in the bath tub.
Watch that young children don't eat any plants that may be in the room or lobby.
Put any matches that may be in the room immediately out of reach of children.
Supervise young children in the bath - Never leave them unattended.
If children are afraid of the dark or used to a small night light - take it with you and use it in the room.
If you are drinking alcohol in your room or there is alcohol in the mini-fridge, make sure it is out of reach of young children including empty glasses - alcoholic beverages can cause serious illness or death if ingested by a small child.
Don't let children wander the hotel unsupervised.
Children should not be allowed to play on luggage carts.
Place suitcases on the floor. Suitcase racks can be pulled over by young children and cause injury.
Discuss Elevator Safety with Children
Tell your child in advance that if they accidentally exit with a crowd on the wrong floor they should stay put and you will return to them in the elevator
Alert the hotel If your child gets off on the wrong floor
Teach your children how to use a hotel phone
Prevent separation and have a plan to get help. Teach your children to go to a hotel employee in uniform if the child gets lost
Review evacuation plan with kids incase of fire or other emergency. Know where the exits are.
